A 6-year-old Persian cat had an abscess, which is a pocket of infection, in the right front part of its lung caused by a type of bacteria called Mycoplasma. The cat underwent surgery to remove the infected part of the lung and was treated with a medication called tylosin for two weeks. After these treatments, the cat showed a good recovery.
Abstract
A Mycoplasma sp was isolated from an abscess of the right cranial lung lobe in a 6-year-old Persian cat. The cat responded well to resection of the affected lung lobe and to a 2-week course of tylosin treatment.
