A 25-year-old Quarterhorse mare was put to sleep due to several health issues. When the veterinarians examined her after death, they found seven liver flukes, which are a type of parasitic worm called Fascioloides magna, in her liver. This case is significant because it is the first time this particular parasite has been reported in a horse.
