Abstract
Abstract A 5‐year‐old ferret was diagnosed with intervertebral disc extrusion, causing paraparesis and pelvic limb ataxia. The ferret was surgically treated and made a full recovery within 2 weeks. The patient was presented less than 2 years later with similar neurological signs and was subsequently diagnosed with intervertebral disc extrusion at the adjacent intervertebral disc space; however, the owner elected for euthanasia. Intervertebral disc herniations have been described in domestic ferrets; however, we present a case of disc extrusion diagnosed with low‐field magnetic resonance imaging and confirmed surgically.
